Approach

Get it done, but make it fun!

No two projects are the same.

Different uses, different locations, different budgets, different priorities.

What is the same is my commitment to designing the best, most efficient and most sustainable solution for your needs and your budget. I draw from my broad experience to give your project a custom but proven approach based on your requirements, your schedule, and your budget.

My experience spans from commercial to higher education to government to K-12 to single family and multi-family residential to mixed use. Your project may be uniquely yours, but I will draw on my experience and industry best practices to find the right solution for your building systems.

I bring expertise in mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems so you don’t have to. Do you have a specific light fixture you’d like to use? Great. Do you not have any idea what kind of air conditioning system you’d like to have? Also great. I can help you choose the things you care about, and you can trust me to take care of the rest. After all, the best MEP systems are the ones you don’t notice.

I have one goal with my work: to get your project done. From providing planning advice for a future project to delivering a full set of permit/construction drawings, I can help make your project a success.

Most building owners and tenants aren’t doing a construction project for fun, they’re doing it because they need to have a finished space to live in or to do their work. And I know that most architecture firms love what they do in providing vision and details for their clients, but those building systems won’t design themselves.

I am also fluent in all project languages: owner/tenant, architect, engineer, permit office and contractor. A big hurdle for many projects is understanding and communicating the client’s needs, through an architect’s vision, via drawings coordinated with other engineers, to a contractor to build. Each and every project can be like a game of telephone, but you don’t want a punch line - you want a finished space. I understand the technical aspects of my work to convey your project specifics to code reviewers and contractors. And I understand that clients and architects are interested in function and aesthetic of a space, and probably don’t care how their systems work - just that they do work. I’m an engineer and won’t insult you with suggestions on color palettes or how a space should flow, but I’ll be sure that your HVAC and plumbing systems do.

And I’ll try to use only two-syllable words when discussing HVAC systems with the owner, and save the four-letter words for the jobsite contractor.
